When Illusion Fireworks was created, none of us could ever have imagined the successes we would enjoy in just over one year. It’s unbelievable that in such a short time, the company has come from such humble beginnings to the success it is today. With one Firework Champions award under the company’s belt and the continual stream of new display bookings, things couldn’t be better.
Whilst so far I’ve referred to Illusion Fireworks as a company, I’d like to take a step back and tell you why when we describe ourselves to others, “company” is the last word we use. Back in November of 2014 I arrived on site at our very first display as Illusion Fireworks, I was presented with a brand new polo shirt embroidered with the logo I’d sat down to help design just a week before. Excited as I was to get going on this inaugural display, it was unfortunately a display for a somber occasion, this was our first, of now many ashes dispersals. As we neared the end of firing the display, I knew that shortly we would have to return to the family. This, as I’m sure you can imagine is somewhat of a daunting prospect; “Did we get it right?”, “Is this really what they wanted”, just a few of the questions that were going around in my head as we were walking over to them.
The moment we arrived with them, they invited us to join in with their meal and celebrations. At this point there were two things I vividly remember, first and foremost a sense of relief, we had done our job right and the family were happy (although clearly mourning their loss). The second vivid memory of this occasion was that Illusion Fireworks, although young, was a very mature family like company and this brings me to my point, Illusion fireworks is more than a company, we consider ourselves a family.
Each and every member of crew, new or old is welcomed like a brother or sister. To me this is one of the most satisfying things about being part of Illusion Fireworks. Our job is a dangerous one and we know that, so knowing you have family around you at all times, that those family members look after you in sometime testing situations is a real comfort (I have been there and they have...). Here’s to a successful 2016 and hopefully another Firework Champions trophy!
